| I
can't help noticing the wildly creative ways people actually sit
in their chairs. The slouch takes on so many different forms I've
lost count. And every once in a while I see someone sitting with
their leg under them as if they need more height to see their computer
screen.
Not good! Where
are the Posture Police when you need them? I don't mean to nag.
It's just that good "neutral" posture is the cornerstone
of comfort and pain prevention. (I can relate, I myself am a reformed
sloucher.)
So, what do
the experts mean by "neutral posture?" With your feet
on the floor, adjust the height of your chair so your knees are
at a 90-degree angle and your thighs are parallel to the ground.
Adjust your armrests so your shoulders are in a relaxed position
and your elbows are at 90-degree angles. Distribute your weight
evenly and use the entire seat and backrest to support your body.
This is neutral
posture. You'll be surprised by the difference it makes in your
productivity and comfort.
Forward-tilt
chairs and chairs with level seats and slightly reclined backrests
support this posture.

Don't own an
