Pencil-Pushers Puncture Pellicle for PostureFit Protection

Herman Miller's PostureFit has been a hugely popular upgrade for their Aerons, and not just on new chairs. PostureFit helps align the spine to further reduce fatigue and improve your lower back comfort.

The PostureFit unit installs just as easily onto older models, too...provided you can bring yourself to poke a necessary hole through the pellicle to accommodate the PostureFit cable.

Of course, this doesn't harm the pellicle in the least. It's not like puncturing leather or upholstery. The pellicle mesh just moves aside. But based on all the calls we get, Aeron owners are really apprehensive about this part of the PostureFit installation.

The Trick Is To Push A Pencil Point Through It

That's really all there is to it. Take a reasonably sharp #2 pencil and gently slide the lead point through the pellicle backing at the location shown in the PostureFit directions. That provides just enough of an opening to insert the cable.

This method won't harm the chair in any way. Whatever you do though, DON'T use a knife or any other sharp-edged tool. Cuts or tears permanently damage the pellicle.

The simple rule is this: a pencil point is perfect for PostureFitting your pellicle.
